Founder Chairman's Message
Over the years, I have come to realise the inevitable: that life can't be treated like a rehearsal - whatever was encountered along the path behind, the only way to live your life is forwards. It is in doing so that one comes to terms with what came before. I do believe there is a meaning and destiny in life for each of us. Each of us has to find that path.
I was saved from the atrocities of the Killing Fields. This was my destiny. I had to find my path.
Since 1992 I have travelled extensively in Cambodia, listening to the people, understanding their lives and their needs. I was originally involved with humanitarian relief for amputees. However, I became increasingly convinced that beyond providing immediate relief to those needing obvious assistance, it was important to improve the day-to-day lives of the rural population living well below the poverty line, and support the development of the country through health, education and small scale income-creation projects which are sustainable by the villagers themselves.
The Nginn Karet Foundation for Cambodia is an apolitical and transparent organisation created to implement such sustainable developmental projects, which strive simultaneously to help preserve the traditional Cambodian culture. It bears the name of my late father, a patriot who did much to forward the democratic movement in Cambodia.
I have dedicated my time fully to this work.
